LIGHTS! ACTION!

The Reporter If you have ever dropped an armful of groceries trying to turn on the light as you walked in the door at home, you're probably a candidate for the IntelaVoice™, the world's first voice-activated light switch.

IntelaVoice™ lets you turn a light on or off with a simple one-word command: lights. Manufactured by VOS Systems, the device is also programmed for three other vocal commands that allow you to turn on and off radios, televisions, fans and other small appliances from as far away as 20 feet.

The device looks like a computer mouse and plugs into a standard outlet and then any lamp or small appliance. It works with most kinds of lights, including incandescent, fluorescent and dimmers.

The device sells for $29.95, plus $9.95 if you need an external microphone for hidden outlets behind a couch or desk.
